General Questions

What is PayUp Jack?

For amazing people who organize group social activities, PayUp Jack™ is a convenient, easy-to-use money collection platform that relieves the stress and hassle of collecting money from a group of friends and family using credit cards.

PayUp Jack allows the “payers” to pay the “social organizer” using a credit card and that money owed goes directly onto the “social organizers” credit card, instantly.

You can use PayUp Jack for a variety of social activities, for example: a team captain collecting team fees for the rec hockey or beach volleyball teams; the bachelorette weekend getaway in Niagara-on-the-Lake; the tickets for the music festival or baseball game.

NOTE: PayUp Jack is currently available to anyone who has a Canadian credit card only. International version to come shortly.

Why should I use PayUp Jack?

If you are the one person in your group of friends that LOVES bringing everyone together and organizing social activities (what we call the “Social Organizer”), but knows it’s a thankless job, especially when you must collect money, then PayUp Jack is for YOU! • Your friends don’t have to sign up—After you sign-up for PayUp Jack, all you need is their email address!

How does PayUp Jack make sure money is being sent to the correct person?

The Social Organizer will initially select the graphic from an image library and communicate to the Payer, to validate the transaction, the correct graphic to select. The Payer will know what image to choose based on the communication—don’t worry about forgetting, PayUp Jack will also send you the graphic.

Payers (your friends or family) will receive a secure email with a link to make the payment.

How will my friends / family know the PayUp Jack notification they receive is real and not spam?

We take every security measure to ensure PayUp Jack is not being used for fraudulent purposes.

By design, you will be able to determine the validity of your request by who has requested the amount, the activity name and the notes attached with the request.

For example, if someone is requesting money from you for “next week’s baseball game”, and you know you are not going to a baseball game, then you know you’ve been spammed.

We encourage all Requests to be as specific as possible, especially in the Activity Title and Notes section.

Another way to determine spam is the graphical validation feature we use.
The Social Organizer will initially select the graphic from an image library and the Payer will be notified which image.

Is there a due date when requesting funds?

The Social Organizer can suggest a due date, in the “comments” section, in the request process.
